Adam Floied, Chief of Police Manchester Police Department, Tennessee

Chief Adam Floied brings over 35 years of law enforcement experience to his role as Chief of Police for the Manchester Police Department. Having begun his career with the department in 1991 as a Reserve Officer, he transitioned to full-time service in 1998 and steadily advanced through the ranks before being appointed Chief of Police in January 2026.

Throughout his career, Chief Floied has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership, officer development, and community safety. He has served in a wide range of roles, including Corporal, Sergeant, Captain, and Assistant Chief, gaining more than two decades of supervisory and command-level experience. His leadership approach emphasizes professionalism, accountability, and building trust between law enforcement and the community.

Chief Floied is the founder of the department’s Special Operations Unit (S.W.A.T.), where he has led high-risk operations and critical incident responses. His extensive training and operational experience include Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) instructor certifications in firearms instruction, emergency vehicle operations (EVOC), narcotics enforcement, patrol operations, officer safety, high-risk event planning, and active shooter response.

Chief Floied is a graduate of the prestigious 251st Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He also holds the Level IV Leadership Certification from the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police, the highest level of executive training offered by the organization.

He is actively involved in several professional organizations, including: • Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police • FBI National Academy Associates • National Tactical Officers Association • Tennessee Law Enforcement Executive Development Association

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Chief Floied is a devoted father to his three sons: Andrew, a Captain with Manchester Fire & Rescue; A.J., a U.S. Army Air Cavalry veteran and graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville; and Peyton, a Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper. He is also a proud grandfather, aka “Papa Bear”, to two grandchildren, Lyric and Kaius Floied.
